Purchased a ';pink dogwood'; last year with pink blooms but this year they are white with red center? help!

the tree looks very healthy with lots of flowers but they are all white with pinkish/red centers..........This was a ';Stellar Pink Flowering Dogwood';.....does it require certain fertilizer like a hygrangea? Thanks so much!Purchased a ';pink dogwood'; last year with pink blooms but this year they are white with red center? help!
No special fertilizer for Dogwood trees to make the flowers pink. The cold weather has had a big influence on the growth and flowers of trees this year, as well as many other plants. Your garden center will direct you to the best fertilizer for you trees, then you will know when, where and how to fertilize them for next years growth. Dogwood's are not like hydrangea's where color can be controlled with Epsom salts for pink or blue color. It sounds like the root graft has been under ground the soil and the top graft portionof the tree has gone back to it's origional color. Trees that have been grafted onto root stock can revert back to their origional state if the root union becomes burried and roots grow from above the graft union. Sorry!Purchased a ';pink dogwood'; last year with pink blooms but this year they are white with red center? help!
Dogwood like acidic soil. A course of miracid might help next year's blooms.
