My peonies are done blooming. Is it time to cut them back?

Also, I have heard mixed opinions on this one...Is it true that peonies need ants for them to open or do they just attract them like crazy and the ants have no purpose......????My peonies are done blooming. Is it time to cut them back?
Ants do not have anything to do with your peony flowers opening. http://www.gardenopus.com/peonies.htm

You should cut the spent flower but do not cut any of the foliage back. Another great site for peony facts and care:

To ensure that the peonies grow strongly for next year, cut off the seed pods. Do not trim the leaves.

Ants enjoy the sweet sap that comes from peonies, but they do not play a role in seed formation or flowering.
